I am passionate about some political issues, but I have attempted to keep my political beliefs and this blog separate. I had heard about some rumblings of a new law not only suspending Habeas Corpus (as had been done during the Civil War) but permanently removing it from the law. This scares me silly.

The law signed by the President today is the Military Commissions Act of 2006. It suspends Habeas Corpus for aliens, but I think this is just a slippery slope. I hope the democrats will have a decent answer to this when the next congress convenes.
